Home About Us Our Team

Meet our Team

Our philosophy is that every child should be treated as the unique individual they are, and we are always working to ensure we can meet the needs of all the young people who attend Westbourne.

We believe that our pupils should leave with more than just qualifications. They should be well-rounded, responsible citizens that can positively contribute to their communities.

Many pupils consider school to be their only safe, happy and consistent experience and our determination is to provide an environment where all pupils flourish.

We strive to ensure that all pupils are presented with the best possible opportunities to pursue their passions, develop the skills required to understand themselves and others, regulate their emotions and successfully access further education or employment.

Headteacher – Kate Martin

Kate joined us as Headteacher at the end of the 2022 academic year. Kate has a long history of working with pupils in a variety SEN settings, and is passionate about ensuring all children and young people have the opportunity to achieve the best possible outcomes. She has many years experience leading educational provisions for pupils with SEMH and SEN, and is focussed on trauma-responsive and relationship-driven behaviour practices that provide boundaries and routines, whilst also focusing on nurture and therapeutic approaches.

Assistant Head – Sian Bullen

Her previous roles have included Curriculum leader and Deputy Head teacher, where Sian has been able to develop her knowledge and understanding of working with pupils with SEN to support them to achieve their full potential and make outstanding progress across all aspects of their education.

Assistant Head – Stacey Edwards

Stacey has worked in education for many years supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH. Her previous role was Deputy Head teacher, where Stacey was also DSL.

Zoe Ward – SENCO
