Isabelle Siefers, Westbourne’s Duke of Edinburgh Lead, is very proud of the young people who have working towards their Bronze DofE Award with her.
For the volunteering section of the Award students conducted some market research throughout the school, in the form of a survey. They chose to hold a car wash event every Friday afternoon, with donations going to the Rainbows Hospice Charity, personally chosen by one of the students due to their own personal involvement.
Over the eight weeks our young people developed their own risk assessments, created posters to promote their charity work, decided what items would be needed to be able to wash the cars and went out to purchase them.
The group raised £120 in total with kind donations from staff and received a personalised certificate and ‘thank you’ card from the Rainbows Hospice for their effort and contributions.
